Tree Removal
Safe, certified removal when it's genuinely needed. We always assess for retention or pruning first. When removal is the right call, removed timber is milled — not mulched.
Learn more →Expert tree care grounded in ecological integrity. When removal is unavoidable, we mill the timber — not the relationship with our natural world.
Every tree is a living system. When one must come down, the question isn't how quickly we can remove it — it's how we honour what it gave.
Professional, certified tree management delivered with honest advice and ecological awareness — from a single prune to full site clearance.

Learn more →Formative, structural, and health pruning to NZ arboricultural standards. We improve tree health, safety, and aesthetics — from fine crown work to major reductions.
Learn more →Independent assessments for Auckland Council resource consent, insurance claims, property sales, and heritage evaluations. Accepted by Auckland authorities.
Learn more →Complete stump removal to below ground level, leaving the site clean and ready for replanting or landscaping. All grindings cleared and tidied.
Learn more →Emergency response to storm-damaged trees. We stabilise hazards, clear debris safely, document for insurance, and advise on whether recovery is possible.
Learn more →Full vegetation and tree clearance for development, construction, or land preparation. All timber responsibly disposed — milled where possible, composted where not.

Removal is always our last recommendation. We assess every tree for retention through pruning, health management, or structural support before removal is even considered.
Removed trees become beautiful timber — slabs, boards, and rounds — not waste. This extends each tree's lifespan and keeps its stored carbon locked in solid wood for decades.
Local makers — furniture designers, woodturners, sculptors — craft beautiful objects from every log. Your tree lives on in lasting, beautiful forms made by Auckland's artisan community.
"When we do need to remove trees we prefer not to turn them into mulch but to mill the timber and provide this as a resource for artisan woodworkers."
Urban trees are far more than ornaments. They're infrastructure for carbon storage, biodiversity, soil health, and air quality. Every decision we make reflects that.
Trees absorb CO₂ from the atmosphere. A mature Auckland tree sequesters 100–200 kg annually. When we mill removed timber, that carbon stays locked in the wood for the lifetime of the object it becomes — not released as mulch decomposes.
Auckland's urban trees are habitat corridors for tūī, kererū, lizards, and invertebrates. Before any work, we assess nesting sites, native fauna dependencies, and ecosystem connections — protecting what lives in and around the tree.
Tree root systems prevent erosion on Auckland's volcanic soils, improve water retention, and build organic matter over decades. We recommend mulching non-millable material on-site to return nutrients — keeping the full resource productive.
Auckland's urban canopy absorbs particulate matter, nitrogen dioxide, and traffic pollutants. Research shows trees near roads reduce airborne particles by up to 30%. Every tree we retain through management rather than removal is a measurable health win.
"Scott and the team came out on a Saturday, assessed our Pōhutukawa, and gave us honest advice: it could be saved with pruning. Two months later it's thriving. No hard sell — just real expertise."
"They removed our old Macrocarpa and the whole process was professional and clean. Months later we saw a photo of our timber turned into a beautiful sideboard. That's genuinely next-level thinking."
"Josh provided our arborist report for council consent — detailed, thorough, accepted without question. He understood the heritage status of our Kauri and made a compelling case for retention. Brilliant."
We're not here to remove trees quickly and move on. Every job begins with an honest assessment — and we'll always tell you if less intervention is the better option.
Before any work begins, we explore pruning, support systems, and health management as alternatives to removal.
Every arborist holds NZ Arboricultural Association certification. We maintain full public liability insurance on every job.
We know the Auckland Unitary Plan inside-out and can manage permit applications, reports, and consent processes on your behalf.
Every tree we remove is assessed for milling. The result: character-rich urban timber supplied to Auckland's artisan community — with full provenance from suburb to sawbench.
Many trees in Auckland are protected under the Auckland Unitary Plan. Native trees, heritage trees listed on the Notable Trees schedule, and trees within Significant Ecological Areas typically require resource consent before removal. Trees in some residential zones may fall under a general vegetation rule for trees below certain sizes. We assess every tree's protection status before any work begins and can manage the permit application process on your behalf.
This is what makes us different. Instead of turning removed trees into mulch, we mill the timber into slabs, boards, and rounds that we supply to Auckland artisan woodworkers, furniture makers, and craftspeople. This circular economy approach extends the lifespan of every tree and keeps carbon stored in the wood rather than releasing it through decomposition. Timber that isn't suitable for milling is chipped and returned to the site as mulch or composted.
Tree removal costs in Auckland range from around $200 for a small tree to $20,000 or more for large, complex, or heritage specimens. The main factors are tree size and species, site access, proximity to structures, and whether a council permit is required. We provide free, no-obligation quotes and will always tell you honestly if pruning or retention is a better option than removal.
